Gymnastics Teacher Line-Up

We have the best-trained gymnastics staff in the Port. All instructors meet weekly to increase their teaching knowledge, go over safety standards, and lesson plans for the next week. They want to ensure that the students learn effectively in a safe environment while having fun. The teachers have passed their National Risk and Safety Certifications along with their gymnastics coaching certification from USA Gymnastics University.

  • Stacy Alvarez – Owner, Gymnastics, Dance, and Art Teacher. Former USAG SCATS club competitor (State Gold medalist: Collegiate Scholarship ), Professional dance-theatre performer, (Diavolo) choreographer. 40 consecutive years of teaching movement. UCLA (Proprioceptive Motor Learning)
  • Arik Abulon, aka. Coach Spikey – UCLA Grad (Applied Psychology), currently working on his Doctorate at CSULB. USAG Club Gymnastics competitor, UCLA cheer and Cheer Coach, Former Disney Animator and Stuntman.
  • Jade Easley – Gymnastics and Dance. US Army Veteran (8 years, MP), former USAG competitor, former dancer, and instructor at Debbie Allen Dance Academy, Child Educator.
  • Jeffrie Ledenbach –  Former student turned colleague. Coached under my direction for 10 years in our past life, Gymnastics, Dance and Theater, Renaissance Costume Designer Specialist, Make-Up Artist Specialist,  Generational and Lifetime Disney Employee.

  • Jackie Cortez – Gymnastics, Fitness, Dance, and Art Teacher. Former San Pedro High School Dance Captain (Pirate Dancers), High school recreational gymnast, Drill Team, Fitness Instructor for the family business (Harbor Fitness), singer, choreographer
  • Megan Escobar – Gymnastics and Dance Teacher, Administration. Northridge University (BA Kinesiology). Modern Dance and Ballet at SMU, (studied with Master Teacher, Charlotte Richards) Former Zumba, Pilates, and Fitness Instructor at various national fitness centers.

The dance teachers have a thousand years of dance experience combined!

  • Palma Skorin – Ballet Teacher. Artist extraordinaire. Rosalie and Alva’s prodigy. She trained ballet as an adult in France, where her family is from. A distinguished dancer in the community of San Pedro. Teaching Ballet for 4 decades. Her accolades will take up 4 pages.
  • Marel Drake – Ballet Teacher for 4 decades. Masters in Education
  • Consuelo Schroder – Ballet/Contemporary Ballet Teacher. Former Jazz and Flamenco performer. Currently, a massage therapist for USC Athletic Dept., Healing arts.
  • Michael Stancliff – BFA in Drama, Uc Irvine, Current Disney Dancer. Huge musical Theater Past.
  • Sarah McVickar – Contemporary Jazz. Currently Long Beach State University, BA in Dance, Former Disney Dancer, PV High School Dance Team.
  • Steven “Tseven” Palmer – Stamping & Rhythm Teacher. Former Young American Performer, and Broadway STOMP original cast member. Currently performs with many entertainment groups, personal trainer, Former MP – military veteran.
  • Sharon Palmer – Tap & Ballet Teacher. Current Dance director at Palos Verdes Intermediate School. Former Young American, BA in Dance, MA in education. Musical theatre and dance master.
  • Kayleen Kamimura – Urban Hip Hop Teacher. Currently a Physical therapist assistant at Torrance Memorial, former Carson high school captain of hip hop crew, a former member of Common Ground. Current Director of Play Ground in Irvine.
  • Leslie Harvey – Tap and Jazz Teacher. New York and Los Angeles Broadway Performer, choreographer and teacher. An original cast member of CATS. Studied with Hubbard Street in Chicago, danced Nationally for years. Currently takes Taiko Drumming! and is at Miraleste Intermediate (and other organizations) choreographing for Musical Theater.
  • Laura Whiteside – Ballet, Tap, Adult High Heels and Creative Movement Teacher. Teaching dance for decades, Formerly trained with Jimmy DeFore, the Edge, and Ballet Pacifica. You might see her at Chadwick or other local studios and schools teaching dance. We are very lucky. One of the highlights of her career was touring as the real-life Barbie for Mattel Toys.
  • Lia Colbert – Hip Hop and Gymnastics – San Pedro High School Pirate Dancer and Drill Team Member – Lia is currently attending San Pedro High School Class of 2021.
